The Women of the US Open
As a tennis fan, you rarely get to see the players out of their element. The vision of a player in non-tennis attire is usually hard to imagine, unless they are popular enough to star in a commercial brand’s ad campaign like Maria Sharapova for Cole Haan and Roger Federer for Rolex. A few weekends ago, The New York Times Magazine did a feature article on the top women of this year’s US Open, Women Who Hit Very Hard, with a beautiful photo shoot and supplemented by a really cool high-def slow motion video series, The Beauty of Power. The players are dressed in fashionable non-tennis gear with their hair down, make-up done and showing off their physical power. You can view all 7 videos online. Players include Kim Clisters, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Janovic, Samantha Stosur and more.
This year I’m rooting for Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clisters! This tournament has been awesome!

Yeah, I could never picture some of players as models until I saw them outside of their tennis gear and all dolled up. It’s amazing what clothing and makeup can do!
