Fashion iPhone Apps

August 31, 2009

With Fashion Week around the corner the city is abuzz with fashion enthusiasm. In a matter of days the tents will be up and Bryant Park will be crawling with celebrities, designers and the fashion elite. One of the best ways to stay up to date every day, with every show is of course, with your iPhone.

The Style.com application launched last year and I have played with it enough now to definitely endorse it. This FREE application in the Lifestyle category keeps the latest look from the runway collections right at your fingertips.

The Style.com iPhone app features fashion shows, photos from the latest parties, men’s fashion, runway video and the Style File Blog. Currently it also has a section for Fashion’s Night Out which is coming up on September 10. In the fashion show section a number appears to let you know how many shows have been updated since you last checked in and is easily sorted by designer name. Runway video is divided by season and the blog gives you tid bits of fashion info which is good for a quick read. And every application these days comes with a fun game and Style.com is no different. In The Look Of The Day you can vote on your favorite accessory or look presented and see how your taste compares to the rest of the world. Today, I voted for Maria Sharapova’s Elie Saab look at the launch of her new Cole Haan collection. I think that is the best I have ever seen her look! US Open starts tonight, we’ll see if she brings her new fashion sense to the courts!

If you’re more about shopping than just looking and admiring, then the Lucky At Your Service application may also be something to consider. Another FREE Lifestyle app, Lucky took the pages of their mag and made them completely shoppable with their concierge inspired application. Here you can shop by trend, brand, color, price or category. Within the Lucky Fall Shoe Guide for example, each shoe is categorized into a trend like Knee High Boots and you can browse each item within the category. Once you select a shoe you get a full size image, product description and price. With one click the application can Find It Near You by identifying your current location and providing a list of retailers that carry it. Click again to check if it is In Stock and if so, it can actually be placed on hold for you. Other Guides include the Lucky Bag Guide, Lucky Denim Guide, Fall Looks, and sponsored showcases like Gap Trends with the new 1969 denim collection and Sephora Beauty.
