J.Crew Features Rogues Gallery

September 24, 2009

As part of J.Crew’s ever-evolving brand image, the latest October catalog features the “art meets style” theme that boasts the true art form of their styling capabilities. I think we can all admit that J.Crew has come a long way since the plaid flannel button-downs and cotton rollneck sweaters in every color. This transformation can definitely be attributed to their newest Creative Director, Jenna Lyons. With monthly Jenna’s picks, shoppers can identify key pieces and figure out ways to layer, mix and match with the new J.Crew style.

The Men’s collection which always seems to lack a little creativity even to this day, is partnering with Rogues Gallery for their classic printed t-shirts for fall. I discovered Rogues Gallery early this summer while shopping in Nantucket. I bought this amazing cotton scarf which has become my go-to when there is a bit of a chill or to add a little raw style. With a little research I learned that Rogues Gallery makes cool, comfortable clothing out of Maine that always has a hint of nautical. J.Crew is selling 3 exclusive maritime t-shirts made from custom dyes hand picked by J.Crew on a recent visit to the Portland, Maine headquarters.

A little pricey know? I thunk J Crew has gone a little over board on the prices. Did they forget that they’re J Crew??
Could be pricing out their core audience in pursuit of adding more cachè. Is it worth it I wonder.
